About

Have you ever seen the photos of heavenly beaches with pristine turquoise seawater? I bet some of them must have been taken in Coral Island Pattaya. After spending months traveling around Thailandthere is one thing I know for sure- Koh Larn is one of the most beautiful, yet still undiscovered places in the country. In this guide, you will find all the information you need to plan your visit to this breathtaking island.

Description

There are many ways to get to Koh Larn. The easiest way is by speed boat, all along Beach Road you will find speed boat operators.

Cost of speed boat to the Island is between Baht and Baht and up for a group of people or Baht per person each way. The other way is the Koh Larn ferry, cost is 30 Baht per person, each way. If you enjoy a faster mode of transportation, you may want to travel to Koh Larn by speed boat the cost is Baht per person for each way and return.

If you like to hire a speed boat for your group, the cost is between 2, Baht and 3, Baht. What determines price is the size of the boat, if you have a small group pick out one of the smaller boats. Most all of the speed boats are well maintained and have safety equipment aboard. All the captains have plenty of experience, they don't just let any one operate these crafts. Speed boat operators are easy to find. They operate all along Beach Road in Pattaya and Jomtien.

In fact you really don't have to find them they will find you, sooner than you think. All you have to do is get to Beach Road. All the boat operators have a good knowledge of the area and can assist you in finding just that right spot.

Speed boat to koh larn

I know what most are thinking while reading this about now. Why spend Baht when the ferry is so cheap? If you have a group of say six or so, with the cost split up, then subtract the cost of all the other expenses like taxis etc. Add all this to the convenience and speed of getting to the island it becomes even a better deal. A disavantage is you will have a pre ased time to return to the city. Ferry Boat is still cheaper by far, however if you come on a vacation really you came to have a good time, not to watch every Baht you spend.

Speed boat service runs to Baht per person. If you want to hire the whole boat for your group the cost would be 2, to 3, much depends on the size of the speed boat you want to hire.

There are two ports on Koh Larn where the ferry boats travel to. One port is in the main village of Koh Larn, the main village is called Naban and it faces the main land Jomtiem. Na Baan is very much worth visiting it is a charming place to walk around. The other port is at Tawaen Beach which is the largest most popular beach on Koh Larn.

Which ever port you choose to go to Koh Larn you are free to go back to Pattaya from either port, you purchase your ticket at either port before boarding. First you need to get to the Bali Hai Pier where the ferry boat is docked. You could also get a baht taxi or a motorbike taxi to take you to the pier, they all know where Bali Hai Pier is.

The ferry boat you want is located straight out at the end of the pier. The ferry going to Tawaen Beach on Koh Larn is just to the left then the ferry just to the right goes to Naban or the main Village. The fare for the Koh Larn ferry to both destinations is only 30 Baht for each way. If someone asks you to pay more than 30 Baht then you are probably not at the right boat.

You pay just as you board the boat at the kiosk next to where the boat is docked. Naban Port is the main village where most people that live on the island have their homes. Naban also has the majority of resorts for those people that want to stay for a few nights.

Tawaen Beach is the other destination and now has accommodations for overnight stays.

You can get to all parts of the island from both these destinations by song tao, or motorbike taxi. You can choose either boat to return back to Pattaya, it doesn't matter where you arrived to the island.

Remember you pay the fare as you board. This Google map indicates the location of where to board the ferry boats that take you to Koh Larn. You pay as you board the ferry there is no need to pre-book. Yes the ferry boat ride is cool. But when you are traveling and with a group time is always equal to money. I just got on a speed boat for a party of 11 and the cost was bahts. They waited for us in the morning and once we got to Koh Larn island they waited for us there also. So we can go whenever we want and leave whenever we want. If you want to book the speed boat.

Thats the to the people that owns the speed boat. They charge baht if you call them directly. Make sure to drop them a tip, cause they do provide VIP service, by helping you carry your stuff to the island and back to the boat.

Great people. All I can say is WoW 30 Bahts for a ferry boat to a tropical island.

That isn't even a dollar you can't buy anything for a dollar these days! Thanks Jason for the feed back, I agree it is a great bargain and it has been only 30 Baht for quite a long time. Hi, my name is Paul, I have traveled to Koh Larn by ferry boat many times and a few times by speed boat. While speed boat is faster and more convenient, it is a bumpy ride and jars my back giving me a sore back later on. That is why I like the Koh Larn ferry, I am retired so I don't mind the extra time it takes, I also enjoy the slow and easy ride.
